Frank Reed workshop: Drawing, Collage and History in London Bridge

  • The Hive 8 Holyrood Street London, England, SE1 2EL United Kingdom (map)

In this DRAWING workshop, we will be taking inspiration from London Bridge’s fascinating history as a centre for health and medicine.

We’ll head out with some drawing materials to hunt for buildings and features of medical history and sketch what we find, before returning to the Hive to turn our observations into some fantastical collage creations.

All abilities welcome. We’ll start the session with some simple drawing exercises to warm up. We will be spending about 1 hour outside exploring the London Bridge area, so please make sure you have anything you need to stay comfortable drawing outdoors. Materials will be provided but you are welcome to bring anything else you'd like to work with.

About the artist:

Frank’s work explores the spaces and places we all inhabit, from the real and observed to the imagined. Escapism is a key theme in her work, using drawing, painting and collage as a way to layer up images of the urban environment and construct new, playful illusions of space. As well as her art practice, Frank works in the museums and heritage sector and loves learning about and working with history.
